GloryLand Band
Primarily a "Big Band" group from out of our
Sanctuary Orchestra , this instrumental group operates on a short term project arrangement . Rather than having a regular weekly schedule of rehearsals, they simply rehearse on an as needed basis in order to be prepared for whatever project they're playing for next.
Following the Glenn Miller big band instrumentation standard as closely as possible, the GloryLand Band typically utilizes a strong rhythm section (drums, bass, guitar, piano), a full saxophone section (soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax), a full brass section (trumpets, trombones, bass trombone, and even tuba), a token woodwind section (primarily flutes, but also an occasional clarinet, to catch solo parts), and a percussion section .
Past events that the GloryLand Band has played at include the Challenger Banquets, sponsored jointly by First Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Great Day Barbecue sponsored by FBC, the Annual Church Picnic held every spring, and occasional Sunday evening services.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of this group, contact Bob Morrison at 433-5631 to set up an interview/audition appointment. Church members and non-church members alike are eligible.
