First Brass Quintet

Shortly after starting an instrumental program at First Baptist Church, a brass quintet known as First Brass was begun. It enjoyed a couple of years of existence in the early '90s.

Due to schedule conflicts, the idea was abandoned until the August Concert Series of 2000, with the resurrected First Brass quintet bringing the second concert of the Series . A traditional brass quintet instrumentation, this group involves two trumpets, one horn, one trombone, and one tuba.

Each player is active within our Sanctuary Orchestra, and approaches First Brass with a "second-miler"  mentality, faithfully attending their regular orchestra rehearsals each week, as well as their quintet rehearsals.

In addition to frequently playing in programs such as Spring Forth with Music, Sounds of Christmas and August Concerts,  the quintet is available to share in worship services, banquets and other gatherings throughout the year.
