Missions is at the heart of First Baptist Church. You see evidence of this by our commitment to giving to missions, by our praying for missions, and our personal involvement in missions.
There are numerous opportunities for individual involvement on a local, state, national, and international level.
2012 Mission Opportunities
Locally
C. A. Weis Elementary School – you can participate in Backpack Buddies and/or First Friends. There are numerous opportunities to serve at the school with First Friends.
Martha’s Vineyard – Ministering to people who have family members in local hospitals. You can offer encouragement and support to the guest, assist with food, work and improvements around the house, etc.
Kairos Prison Ministry – Mentoring prisoners and sharing the hope of Christ with men in our state prisons.
Health and Hope Clinic – Volunteer to serve in this clinic that provides free medical service to people in our community.
Samaritan Hands – Opportunities to serve with counseling, food and clothes distribution, clerical work and be an encourager to people who are going through difficult life situations.
WHIM – There will be two Saturdays planned just for women to come and share in a number of projects in our community.
There are numerous opportunities to serve and share the love of Christ in our community – Florida Baptist Children’s Home, Loaves and Fishes, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Bridges Out of Poverty, making clothes and dolls to take on mission trips, etc.
Nationally
Rebuild Alabama –Repairing and rebuilding homes in north Alabama that were destroyed in last year’s tornadoes.
Atlanta, Georgia – Weekend trips where you will be working with refugees from around the world who have been displaced from their homes.
North Dakota – Leading a weekend retreat for ladies from the Dakotas.
Internationally
Haiti - March 18 – 24 – Opportunities for medical team, construction team and orphanage team. Cost: $1450.
Closed Central Asia Country – May – This is a vision trip for future work. Team size - 4 to 6 people.

Russia – June 28 – July 10 – There will be a baseball camp, craft camps and English as second language assistance. Cost: $2800 - $2900.
Costa Rica – June or July – An opportunity to assist people with physical and spiritual needs in the mountains of Costa Rica. Cost: $1350 to $1450.
Haiti – October 7 – 13 – Opportunities for medical team, construction team and orphanage team. Cost: $1450
